Since lathe being oldest power tool till the prime source of water wheel and steam engine, the introduction of the electric motor in the 1880s has revolutionized the world of woodworking. Having wide range of experience in manufacturing, DeWalt, Bosch, Makita and Hitachi have brought technological advances and greater efficiency to the industry. These companies have re-invented and improvised the professional grade tools and accessories for residential construction, commercial construction, tradesman and Do-It-Yourself enthusiasts. During the past decade, DeWalt has established itself as one of the leading manufacturers and Makita has also worked to build a steady position. On the other hand Bosch and Hitachi have introduced tools for jobs which had never been thought of.

Following are the best tools of the year:

Demolition Hammers

The job of breaking the concrete is dirty and dusty. The work is unpleasant enough for both the crew and the tools so we try to get it over with as quickly and as painlessly as possible. It can only be done by demolition hammer, it’s a tool that does only one job, but does it like nothing else can. It’s heavy enough to break up hard stuff but versatile and light enough to work in a variety of positions and locations.

Electric Drills

From basic household and backyard repairs to the largest construction projects, electric drills are one of the most essential power tools to own. Electric drills are designed for drilling metal and wood. The lower wattage motor drills are perfect for drilling small holes with a chuck which will only accept drill bits up to 10mm diameter. The more powerful motored machines will cope with larger size holes with chuck size of13mm diameter. This type of drill is normally small and compact and more frequently used.

Angle Grinders

In case to cut tile, mortar and pavers; make quick work of rust and loose paint removal; sharpen blades and cut or grind steel. Then simply put on your safety spectacles and protective gloves, and you’re ready to go. An angle grinder is a handheld power tool used for cutting, grinding, polishing and also ideal for cutting wall and floor tiles. It can be powered by an electric motor, petrol engine or compressed air.

Impact Wrenches

An impact wrench is a socket wrench power tool designed to deliver high torque for a wide range of fastening and loosening tasks. Impact wrenches are widely used in many industries, such as automotive repair, heavy equipment maintenance, product assembly, major construction projects, and any other instance where a high torque output is needed. Although using an impact wrench requires a certain degree of expertise, it certainly makes the job easier, by cutting down on the amount of work and time required to get the job done.

Masonry & Concrete Saws

If your job requires cutting through stone, asphalt, tile, brick, blocks, and concrete, then masonry & concrete saw will meet all the requirements. Most of these saws come with stands and blades included. It can be a small hand-held cut-off saw, a big walk-behind saw or other styles, and it may be powered by gasoline, hydraulic or pneumatic pressure, or electric motors.

All these tools can be viewed and bought on ToolOrbit.com

For decades Milwaukee Electric Tool has been innovating the production industry. Building tools with superior design and intense power, Milwaukee is one of those manufacturers that never ceases improving their power tools and tool-systems. Accordingly, they’ve just released a new line of M12 cordless tools that are making a quite notable impact on the community.

Among the new M12 (12v) releases is Milwaukee 2426-22 cordless oscillating multi-tool, a small piece of power tool with huge versatility and remarkable performance. Like all multi-tools, the 2426-22 is versatile – ideal, in fact, for a huge array of applications from maintenance to full-throttle remodeling, or, in other words, cutting, grinding, scraping, sanding, and etc. Unlike many other multi-tools though, Milwaukee’s rendition is an honest-to-goodness predator executing your jobs and projects with precision, brute power, and decided ease.

The 2426-22 cuts effortlessly and with truly surprising precision maintaining a straight line as if it were somehow divinely compelled to do so, and while additionally boasting Milwaukee’s exclusive RedLithium battery system, the tool delivers max power for the entire duration of an already extended power cycle. These RedLithium Batteries are extremely high-performance, and because the tool weighs only 2.1-lbs (one of the lightest multi-tool models available), the thing offers an intense power-to-weight ratio providing users with a powerful tool, the ability to use it continuously, and use it in any number of awkward spots or positions.

The tool also features an integrated battery-fuel-gauge that activates when the tool is first engaged – this provides a surprisingly accurate and clear display of your remaining battery power. Also unlike other multi-tools, Milwaukee’s 2426-22 is compatible with Bosch multi-tool accessories and includes a universal accessory adapter which allows the tool to be used with accessories from nearly every competing brand. In other words, Milwaukee has made a very bold choice, which, in effect, is beneficial only to you as the craftsman, and potentially to their competition; again, the tool is designed for use with other brand’s accessories, designed, ultimately, for consumer convenience.

For this little maneuver Milwaukee gets a giant thumbs-up saving crafters the usually blood-boiling fiasco of chasing compatible accessories. The tool is also designed with variable speeds featuring a speed control dial with twelve settings from 5,000 opm – 20,000 opm (oscillations per minute), and although the dial does require a fairly significant amount of force to rotate each detent into place, it accurately sets and reflects your speeds allowing you to match the tool’s performance to any given application. With an all metal gear case and comfortable, ergonomic over-mold, the tool is durable and comfortable to operate. So, with the exception of, perhaps, not really including an adequate amount of accessories (which is all but made up for with the inclusion of an accessory adapter and the low cost of the kit), the 2426-22 is a downright great value and a dang good power tool.

In fact, I’d say Milwaukee’s 2426-22 M12 multi-tool is one spicy meatball, if you will. It’s fast, agile, precise and totally powerful allowing you to elevate your work, your projects, and your overall performance. The multi-tool kit includes a wood-cutting blade, sanding pad, five assorted sanding sheets, a universal accessory adapter, two RedLithium batteries, a 30-minute battery charger, and a convenient contractor bag.
5. Makita: $335.99

Conclusion:

All five models deliver [approximately] triple the 450 in./lb. torque of a typical 18v cordless drill/driver, with no counter-torque to your wrist. All models are ambidextrous; i.e., they work the same in either hand. All models feature a 1/4″ hex socket with a snap-chuck to securely hold drill or driver bits. Impact drivers can be quite noisy when “impacting” and all are reversible with variable speed triggers. The four multi-speed models use electronics versus a gear box, which is a good thing. (i.e., drills that change their speed range via a sliding switch connected to the gearbox can strip gears if said switch is moved while the tool is running.)

Depending on which factors are most important to you, your [specification & feature] rating won’t necessarily agree with this conclusion. For instance, having multiple speed/torque choices; 2 speeds are better than 1, and 3 speeds are better than 2, having a short tool so it would fit in tight quarters, being light-weight etc.

No model is the best in every area, be it warranty, charge time, tool length, or whatever. Price had little sway in these rankings, other than designating the Hitachi “best value” because of its lower cost.

There are several steps you can take to help you get maximum performance from your power tools battery.

Prevent the Memory Effect - Keep the power tool battery healthy by fully charging and then fully discharging it at least once every two to three weeks. Exceptions to the rule are Li-Ion batteries which do not suffer from the memory effect.

Keep the Batteries Clean – It’s a good idea to clean dirty battery contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol. This helps maintain a good connection between the battery and the portable device.

Exercise the Battery – Do not leave the battery dormant for long periods of time. We recommend using the battery at least once every two to three weeks. If a laptop battery has not been used for a long period of time, perform the new battery break in procedure described above.

Battery Storage - If you don’t plan on using the laptop battery for a month or more, store it in a clean, dry, cool place away from heat and metal objects.

Understanding your Power Tools Battery needs

We strive to make you power tool battery purchases easy. Since we understand that finding the right batteries for your needs can be overwhelming and confusing at times we developed a power tool battery finder tool to help find the right size for the make and model of your equipment. We also offer educational articles and tips to help you conserve your batteries and understand common problems. By us providing education you are able to make the right purchasing decisions as well as provide proper care for all of your electronics.

How can I prolong the life of my battery?

There are several things you can do to help extend the life of your battery. First thing is to store it separate from the tool in which it belongs to. Do not leave it in the charger when it is fully charged. Second thing is to keep it in a place that has a fairly consistent temperature. Finally, if dealing with Nickel based batteries, make sure that the battery is fully discharged before recharging it.

Can I recharge an old power tool battery after it seems to have stopped taking a charge?

There is a belief that you can recondition your old nickel based battery. Nickel based batteries will crystallize after a period of time and use. Some people say that you can break up the crystallization by running the battery at a very low volt (.5V or less) over a long period of time, and doing this over and over a couple of times as the battery drains. However this process can take a long time and has not been scientifically proven to work, so in most cases, your best bet is to replace the old battery.

If my original power tool battery is a NiCD battery, can I use a different chemistry battery?

That would depend on both your charger and power tool. A lot of chargers will charge NiMH batteries, and a few others will charge Li-Ion. However, even if your charger will do this, your power tool might not. It is best in these situations, to check your user manual or contact the manufacture to find out the technical specs of your model.

The Bosch 38636-01 36-volt Brute Tough Cordless Drill/Driver Kit is for you if you are looking for a drill that even the professionals would envy. This beast delivers the ultimate in power and performance in a drill that is lightweight and suitable for small hands, especially when you consider its muscle.

Several innovative features will immediately catch your attention, such as the flexible power system that lets you match the battery to the application so you can lighten your load and lengthen your runtime. Bosch’s Litheon batteries boast advanced lithium-ion technology that offers more battery charges, longer runtime and more power. Each 1.3Ah slimpack battery delivers 36 volts of power at less than a standard 14.4-volt battery’s weight.

In addition, with an optional 2.0Ah fatpack, you get twice the voltage and run time of 18-volt competitors, all at the standard 18-volt weight. The 38636-01 comes with a fast charger that powers up the included batteries to 80-percent capacity within 30 minutes, and the charger has an easy-to-read capacity indicator and temperature sensor.

The 36V is a very high end category in the Bosch Litheon drill family. Its high torque mode produces over 600 in.-lbs. Its Durashield™ housing & unibody powertrain coating provides protection against the elements. It comes with Bosch Litheon™ 36V batteries – a high end kind. The batteries run on a flexible power system – where the battery can be matched to the application. It has 1/2″ metal chuck and externally accessible brushes. It has a 15 position clutch and Bosch designed powertrain with metal gears.

Compared to my old 18-volt drill from another reputable company, this DeWalt 28-volt heavy-duty hammer drill is like comparing a small 4-cylinder pickup to an H1 Humvee.

It is well designed and fairly light plus the batteries recharge a lot faster than the Ni-Cad ones which I had been using. The other great benefit is that if left unused for a few days the batteries do not discharge.

The DeWalt DC910KL 28V Combi Drill is a powerful DeWalt 28 volt combination tool for heavy-duty hammer drilling and screw driving. It has three speed settings for optimum performance in high torque, normal use and high speed applications plus 22 position adjustable torque control for uniform results and optimised precision when screw driving. The drills 13 mm all metal self-tightening keyless chuck tightens throughout operation providing superior bit gripping strength.

A high performance fan cooled motor gives maximum power and durability and the electronic motor brake provdes added control. All metal gearing provides efficient power transmission and longer tool life and the ergonomically designed trigger and anti-slip comfort grip provides increased comfort and control.

Surprisingly light at just 6.25 pounds, this tool is easy to maneuver and it keeps operator fatigue to a minimum. A 360-degree handle and heavy-duty kit box for easy transport and storage are included in this kit, along with a one-hour charger and two 28-volt NANO-Phosphate Lithium Ion batteries. These batteries are lighter than traditional batteries, and they offer both extended run time and longer overall tool life with up to 2,000 recharges per battery.

There is always something to repair or put back mutually when you own a home. Particularly if you are a brand new house holder, you may not have every tool around the house that you might need for these sorts of job. Here is an inclusive list of power tools that you cannot live without if you are a landowner. You will need them from the simplest job of just putting collectively the outside furniture to doing entire refashion of the house, so keep this list with you when you go to the home development center or hardware store for shopping.

This is a short and comprehensive list of five power tools, but they will make your life easier now that you are a house owner. All of the daily jobs that a landowner must do can be performed with just these cord or cordless tools.

1. Cordless drill. You need a cordless drill to drill a lot of holes or very big holes. Also, if you don’t wish to switch the screws when you are utilizing a cordless screwdriver, you can utilize the drill. They can be utilized to make pin holes for screws. Usually a landowner will use a 3/8 inch spot. More than that is treated as commercial size.

2. Corded Drill. A cordless drill may not have great power, so it is not vital if you are working on a large plan or working with heavy objects. You can’t use corded tools just wherever because of the cord, but you can add extension power cables.

3. Cordless screwdriver. A cordless screwdriver is essential for all of the minute jobs you will encounter. If you would like to hang a photo, you can pre-drill a hole in the fence to make that job easier. If you need to place together furniture or toys, this screwdriver will make those jobs simple and easier. You can even utilize the reversible switch and unscrew everything you put incorrectly!

4. Jig saw. If you want to cut patterns to fit into an odd place, such as cutting around ends, where a perfect fitting is necessary then a jig saw will be better choice.

5. Power circular saw. Once you have utilized a saw a small number of times, you will be glad about having a power saw. They are more capable in cutting large sections of wood such as 2X5s, or sheets of lumber. A power circular saw can slice a depth of up to 3 inch panel. If you are planning to do any major remodeling, you have to have a power circular saw.

If you have these 5 power tools, you will come to know that you can do just about any job in the house. Owning a beautiful house is bliss but if it’s easier to work by yourself around your home, you will get even additional joy from it. So, get these five important tools, and you will be equipped for anything that may happen around the house.

All these cordless tools and cordless drills are exclusively available at ToolOrbit.com, a website that brings wide variety of power tools at an affordable price with rebates on different products.

Unless you’re handling strictly light-duty tasks, you’re likely to be disappointed with the least-expensive models. Here’s a guide to the types of cordless drills and drill kits to consider.

Cordless Drills

These are best for fast drilling and most screw driving. NiCd-powered models can handle most jobs, but Li-Ion and NiMH tools performed best in our tests. The 18-volt drills (typical these days) weigh about twice as much as 9.6-volt models.

Cordless Impact Drivers

These are best for driving long fasteners or loosening stuck ones, thanks to their added torque, or twisting force. Most can handle the lug nuts on car wheels and other tough tasks without twisting out of your hands. But all the models we tested required hearing protection. They also require special hex-shank bits for drilling holes, and were slower than most cordless drills in their drilling mode.

Cordless Screwdrivers

These models are small enough to fit in your pocket and typically weigh 1 pound or less. Bendable power heads make them convenient for tight spaces, and the lithium-ion batteries in some are supposed to hold a battery charge for as long as 18 months. But cordless screwdrivers are adequate only for the lightest of tasks. You’ll find more-capable, if larger and heavier, drills for the same or less money.

Cordless Tool Kits

Along with a drill, reciprocating saw, and circular saw, many kits include a work light and some an auxiliary tool. And all share the same battery, which helps to make kits less expensive than the tools, batteries, and chargers would be if bought individually. But our tests revealed significant differences in performance, especially when the price dips below $300. Indeed, you could wind up with a collection of sub-par tools, particularly when it comes to circular saws. Only the best we tested can rival corded versions.
